Sididpet: Telangana State Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday assured that all the 10,300 migrant labourers from other States who are working in irrigation projects across Siddipet district, will be provided 12 kg of rice free besides Rs 500 per head.
The Minister, who launched the distribution of rice and cash on Tuesday, said the government will treat all the migrant workers in the State as part of Telangana family.
Harish Rao supervised the distribution of the rice and cash to 360 migrant labourers housed at DXN Industries at Mandapall, 320 in double bedroom houses at Narsapur, 680 members at Mutrajpally R&R Colony near Gajwel, 300 members at Markook Camp, 600 people at Tunki Bollaram R&R Colony on Tuesday. Similar distribution has been taken up in various other places too.
The Minister assured the labourers that the government would take care of their well being during the lockdown period. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao promised to support the migrant workers working in Telangana until virus impact comes down in the State,” he said, adding that the State would not allow any person to starve or struggle at such times of emergency,.
He urged them to approach the officials if anyone among them showed symptoms of Coronavirus such as cold, cough, fever and throat infection. The Minister said they will be provided medical treatment free of cost.
He further asked them to maintain social distance even at workplace and places of accommodation and also asked them to wash their hands every two hours as a preventive measure against the virus.
